I have had a nice long walk this morning although I have to say it was just a little on the hot side. The weather continues to wreak havoc in China, India and Pakistan and these three countries might be advised to spend more of their budget on the provision for their people and less on nuclear weapons. Russia is also suffering with fire problems where extreme heat and wildfires have led to a blanket of smog over Moscow. Is it not rather strange that all the major players in world weaponry are suffering this year with major weather induced problems? Britain and France have had it in Europe and America always suffer. Maybe there-s a message being missed? Back in Russia global climate change is partly to blame for the abnormally hot and dry weather in Moscow, cloaked in a haze of smoke from wildfires, say researchers. I found a similar explanation was given to me when I spoke with Michael Fish the weatherman. The UK Met Office said there are likely to be more extreme high temperatures in the future. I think we already know this. Experts from the environmental group WWF Russia have also linked climate change and hot weather to raging wildfires around the Russian capital. Meteorologists say severe conditions may linger for several more days. The Moscow health department said earlier that the number of people dying daily in the city had reached about 700 - twice the usual number.

US first lady Michelle Obama and her youngest daughter Sasha dined with the Spanish king and queen at their summer palace on the island, amid criticism of the expensive trip.

After joining King Juan Carlos, Queen Sofia and the wife of the heir to the throne, Princess Letizia for lunch, the resident´s wife and nine-year daughter returned to Washington DC, reports the Telegraph.

In the wake of the emerged details of the first lady´s luxury mini-break stay at the five-star Villa Padierna, one US commentator compared her to “a modern-day Marie Antoinette.”

The entire Spain trip is estimated to have cost the American public $375,000 even though Mrs Obama, and the friends who joined her, paid their personal expenses.

The president´s wife described her visit to Granada as “unforgettable” and was overheard saying that she would like visit again with her husband.

Sent by a UK citizen.....

So you're a sick senior citizen and the government says there is no nursing home available for you - what do you do?

Our plan gives anyone 65 years or older a gun and 4 bullets. You are allowed to shoot 2 MP’s and 2 illegal immigrants!

Of course, this means you will be sent to prison where you will get 3 meals a day, a roof over your head, central heating, air conditioning and all the health care you need! New teeth - no problem. Need glasses, great. New hip, knees, kidney, lungs, heart? All covered. (And your kids can come and visit you as often as they do now).

And who will be paying for all of this? The same government of any day that just told you that you they cannot afford for you to go into a home.

Plus, because you are a prisoner, you don't have to pay any income taxes anymore.
IS THIS A GREAT COUNTRY OR WHAT?

Cancer organization endorses the sun

After decades of telling people to avoid sun exposure, one of Britain's leading cancer charities is getting ready to do a major about-face.

London's Independent newspaper has obtained a confidential report being drafted by Cancer Research UK along with a number of other charities, and instead of the usual claptrap about hiding inside, wearing a hat and sleeves, and slathering on sunscreen at all times, it will instead tell people that a little exposure is necessary and healthy.

"Cancer Research UK's SunSmart campaign encourages people to enjoy the sun safely and avoid exposures that lead to sunburn," the draft reads, according to the newspaper. "However, for most people, sunlight is also the most important source of vitamin D, which is essential for good bone health."

The draft even advises people to "get to know their own skin" and understand for themselves how much sun they can take, since it's different for everyone.

If it sounds familiar, you must be a regular Dose reader or a subscriber to my newsletter, The Douglass Report (and if you're not a subscriber, sign up now -- clearly, it's like reading tomorrow's news, today). I've only been saying this for decades now -- and I've been dismissed as a kook for my efforts.

Well... who's the kook now?

Of course, there's no doubt in my mind that the final statement -- if and when it ever sees the light of day -- will stop short of real change. I'm sure it will still approve of sunscreen most of the time and still urge people to cover up after a brief period of exposure.

But at this point, I'll even take a baby step back out into the sun -- because a new report in Endocrine Today shows just how bad the situation has become: Half of North America and Western Europe are now deficient in D, and in some regions as many as two-thirds of all people are missing out on this critical hormone.

So do yourself a favor and get back outside. Just don't get burned -- by the sun or bad mainstream advice.

Leading the blind into the light,

William Campbell Douglass II, M.D.
