The day’s Podcast is always an interesting journey with the story of the day’s music over the years…..and there are some very interesting stories about the music of the day.1959, Ray Charles recorded ‘What’d I Say,’ in New York City. The song had evolved in concert as a call-and-response between Charles and his female back-up singers. It became Charles’ biggest hit to date, reaching No.1 on the R&B and No.6 on the pop charts

Sorry if you felt a bit neglected during the week. I had to prioritise and so the daily podcast is usually the first bit of time I can save. I enjoyed the trip up to the Basque Country which was short and sweet but I always believe this is the better option when staying with family as it doesn't give any time for any family squabbles to develop. Hit and run and keep it sweet I say. I love my family and I prefer to always keep it that way. There is a truth in the maxim saying absence makes the heart grow fonder! The Basque Country seemed a happy 'place to be despite the cold weather. We travelled on the Metro and it is amazing what was achieved inn times gone by when people did not have the benefits of today's technology. The depth of the Metro is amazing and to sit on a train so far underground with practically everyone speaking in Basque is very strange to say the least.

Staying with Bilbao for a moment there are many really nice riverside walks and the old swing bridge is also very well worth a visit. We stay further along the coast in the direction of France and the power of the waves arriving in the coves and beaches along the northern coastline makes this a surfers paradise. Needless to say the area is becoming more commercialised but it is still very much like the first years when we lived in Cornwall. It's funny how you still worry about the family. Our youngest son is in his late 20s and he is borrowing our car. He's just passed his driving test. It's only when you try to explain every last detail that you realise just how much we do on automatic pilot. Just ensuring he has all the relevant documents is a job in itself and you suddenly wonder why the insurance policy from 2002 is still lying in  the papers. Then there's the little noise that the mechanic told you not to worry about. We also know where we keep the keys but will John always get the discipline of putting the keys where he can find them? Life is a struggle and here's the next part of the puzzle for him.

My various contributors have sent me lots of items to share......
Brenda and Steve took their six-year-old son to the doctor. With some hesitation, they explained that although their little angel appeared to be in good health, they were concerned about his rather small penis. After examining the child, the doctor confidently declared, 'Just feed him pancakes.  That should solve the problem.' The next morning when the boy arrived at breakfast, there was a large stack of warm pancakes in the middle of the table. 'Gee, Mom,' he exclaimed. 'For me?'
'Just take two,' Brenda replied.  'The rest are for your father.'

A Doctor was addressing a large audience in  Tampa  .  'The material we put into our stomachs is enough to have killed most of us sitting here, years ago.. Red meat is awful.  Soft drinks corrode your stomach lining.  Chinese food is loaded with MSG.  High fat diets can be disastrous, and none of us realizes the long-term harm caused by the germs in our drinking water.  However, there is one thing that is the most dangerous of all and we all have eaten, or will eat it. Can anyone here tell me what food it is that causes the most grief and suffering for years after eating it?'
After several seconds of quiet, a 75-year-old man in the front row raised his hand, and softly said, 'Wedding Cake.'

A man went to church one day and afterward he stopped to shake the preacher's hand. He said, 'Preacher, I'll tell you, that was a damned fine sermon. Damned good!' The preacher said, 'Thank you sir, but I'd rather you didn't use profanity.' The man said, 'I was so damned impressed with that sermon I put five thousand dollars in the offering plate!' The preacher said, 'No shit?'

A Ukrainian and a Newfoundland wrestler were set to square off for the Olympic Gold medal. Before the final match, the Newfie wrestler's trainer came to him and said, "Now, don't forget all the research we've done on this Ukie. He's never lost a match, because of this pretzel hold he has. So, whatever you do, do not let him get you in that hold!! If he does, you're finished !!" The Newfie nodded in acknowledgment........ As the match started, th e Newfie and the Ukrainian circled each other several times, looking for an opening. All of a sudden, the Ukie lunged forward,......... grabbing the Newfie and wrapping him up in the dreaded pretzel hold. A sigh of disappointment arose from the crowd and the trainer buried his face in his hands, for he knew all was lost. He couldn't bare to watch the inevitable happen..... Suddenly, there was a scream, then a cheer from the crowd and the trainer raised his eyes just in time to watch the Ukrainian go flying up in the air. His back hit the mat with a thud and the Newfoundlander collapsed on top of him, making the pin and winning the match. The trainer was astounded !!.......... When he finally got his wrestler alone, he asked: "How the hell did you ever get out of that hold?? No one has ever done it before!!...." The wrestler answered: "Well, I was ready to give up when he got me in that hold but at the last moment, I opened my eyes and saw this pair of testicles, right in front of my face. I had nothing to lose, so with my last ounce of strength I stretched out my neck and bit those babies just as hard as I could !!" The trainer exclaimed: "So, THAT'S what finished him off !!....""Not really"............. replied the Newfie...... "You'd be amazed how strong you get, when you bite your own nuts !!"...=
--------------------------------------------------------------- A guy was driving down a motorway in England  with his blonde girlfriend and she piped up, "I think those people in the car next to us are from Wales ". "Why do you think that ?" he said. "Well, the kids are writing on the window and it says "stit ruoy su wohs".
