Remember you can listen to the day’s story of the music whilst reading my blog by clicking this link.   1979, The Village People scored their only UK No.1 single with ‘Y.M.C.A.’ . In the gay culture, the song was understood as celebrating the YMCA’s reputation as a popular cruising and hookup spot

-------------------------------------------------------------------------- Did you see the report in the Sun online about the Premiership players allegedly telling the press that there is RACISM, DRUGS, MATCH-FIXING and HOMOPHOBIA  in the Premiership and other football leagues? The shock findings emerged from a poll of 100 professional players, including 11 Premier League. The sample might seem small but the numbers in the Premier League are not vast are they? The Players’ Poll was conducted by the respected football magazine FourFourTwo and it also suggested drug-taking is rife.  One Premier League player said: “What goes on in the wider world is reflected in sport. The problem is proving it.”   I think most of us can relate to this comment. Another top level striker added: “You do wonder — I’ve come up against a defender who wasn’t the quickest one season and was like s*** off a shovel the next”.  He was, of course, using the vernacular to suggest the other player's speed had improved a bit too dramatically. Half of those asked also thought recreational drugs are used by team-mates and opponents — mostly during the summer when players are on holiday. A League Two player declared: “It’s common knowledge that many players do it over the summer”. And an SPL midfielder said: “There’s a lot of cocaine about because it leaves your system quickly.” Of match-fixing, a League Two defender said: “It goes on. I’ve had players call me and tell me to bet on the outcome of a match, especially at the end of the season." I am highlighting this as I have suggested for the best part of 10 years that it has never stopped since the 1960s when Everton players were found guilty of match fixing. Source

12 Types of People on Facebook

All of us on Facebook have at least one of each of these
types of friends on our list:

1) The "Rooster" -- Always tells Facebook "Good Morning"
every day.

2) The "Lurker" -- Never posts or comments on your post, but
reads everything, and might make reference to your status
when seeing you in public.

3) The "Hyena" -- Doesn't ever really say anything, just
LOLs and LMAOs at everything.

4) "Mr/Ms Popular" -- Has 4,367 friends for NO reason.

5) The "Gamer" -- Plays Words With Friends, Mafia Wars,
Farmville, and Bejeweled Blitz, and bakes virtual cakes and
stuff, etc. (ALL DAY).

6) The "Cynic" -- Hates his life, and everything in it, as
evidenced by the somber tone in ALL of his status updates.

7) The "Collector" -- Never posts anything either, but joins
every group and becomes fans of the most random stuff.

8) The "Promoter" -- Always sends event invitations to
things that you ultimately delete or ignore.

9) The "Liker" -- Never actually says anything, but always
clicks the "like" button.

10) "Drama Queen/King" -- This person always posts stuff
like "I can't believe this!" or "They gonna make me snap
today!" in the hopes that you will ask what happened, or
what's wrong ... but then never finishes telling the story.

11) The "News" -- Always updates you on what they are doing
and who they are doing it with, no matter how arbitrary, and
lastly...

12) The "Thief" -- Steals status updates ... and will
probably steal this one ...

A 48 year old man has been arrested by the Guardia Civil for driving under the influence of drugs, after he was seen driving for more than 17 kilometres in the wrong direction on the AP-7 motorway near the town of Los Alcázares.

The detainee, a Chilean national and resident of Almoradí, was intercepted by a traffic patrol unit after they received notification from the 112 emergency coordination centre. An off duty officer had already managed to stop the car and force the driver to do a U-turn to face the correct direction, where the vehicle was successfully intercepted at kilometre 790.

The officers then confirmed the identity of the driver before arresting him suspicion of reckless driving offenses and for driving under the influence of prohibited substances.

According to sources, these offenses are set out in the Penal Code and can be punishable by between six months and two years in prison, community service, a fine and disqualification. This is the latest in what seems to be a spate of “wrong-way” driving incidents on the motorways of the area, a recent one resulting in a potentially fatal collision in the tunnel near San Pedro del Pinatar.  SpanishVida
