Hairy Visitor

It´s a rather pleasant start to the day with the clouds beginning to lift from the mountains and their definition looking good. It is not too warm but it is pleasant and a very nice day in prospect. This follows a rather horrendous evening when a trainee tarantula decided to invade our sleeping space. The rather hairy and menacing looking spider decided to park itself on the ceiling and my missus refused to go0 to sleep until I got rid of it. Armed with a glass tumbler and a sheet of paper I climbed precariously onto the sideboard where I perched myself trying to trap our visitor ratrher than kill it.m Egged on by she who must be obeyed I eventually encouraged the hairy monster to step into my glass tumbler. I could then put the `paper on top of the tumbler and despatch our visitor to the garden. We could then settle to a more restful evening.

* Evangelist Rick Warren's Prayer Answered *

Evangelical pastor Rick Warren's plea for donations to fill a $900,000 deficit at his Southern California megachurch brought in $2.4 million, Warren announced to cheers during a sermon at the church on Saturday.

Warren said the amount raised after the appeal was posted online Wednesday included only money parishioners brought in person to Saddleback Church by New Year's Eve. More was arriving by hand and by mail, he said.

The following is the philosophy of Charles Schulz, the creator of the 'Peanuts' comic strip.

You don't have to actually answer the questions. Just ponder on them.
Just read the e-mail straight through, and you'll get the point.

1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.
2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.
3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America pageant.
4 Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.
5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for best actor and actress.
6. Name the last decade's worth of World Series wi nners.

How did you do?

The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday.
These are no second-rate achievers.
They are the best in their fields.
But the applause dies..
Awards tarnish..
Achievements are forgotten.
Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners.

Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one:

1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.
2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.
3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.
4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special.
5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.

Easier?

The lesson:
The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the

most credentials, the most money...or the most awards.
They simply are the ones who care the most

Pass this on to those people who have either made a difference in your life,

or whom you keep close in your heart, like I did.
