Threats of a general strike in Spain intensified this weekend following Friday’s decision by the credit agency Fitch Ratings to downgrade the country’s debt from AAA to AA+.

The latest blow to Europe´s fourth-biggest economy comes just days after a series of austerity measures scraped through the Spanish parliament by a margin of a single vote. Designed to rein in a deficit behind Ireland and Greece in the eurozone, the measures to passed thanks only to a series of abstentions. Full Story

Three weeks into the new coalition Government in Britain and another cabinet minister is caught up in the expenses scandal. What I cannot understand is how members in Westminster seems to think it is acceptable to be caught fiddling your expenses as long as you have an alternative alibi to explain you were not...."maximising profits". Who are you kidding? You've been caught doing what you ought not be doing and the only good thing is you have resigned. How stupid to be in a real chance of government and blowing it so quickly? Surely the best policy would have been to come clean before the election and then we'd realise how genuine you really are. I'll bet there'll be others to fall before too long.

It's a wonderful day in Benidorm with clear blue skies and mountain to sea sunshine but let's see how long it will last.........

Chocolate formula made just for tots

People are shocked to learn this, but chocolate milk wasn't invented to prevent the human race from dying out. No kid in human history has ever dropped dead from a lack of chocolate milk.

Yet parents are giving this junk to their kids earlier than ever, and now a new product aims to bring this poison to babies as young as 10 months old.

It's a chocolate or vanilla flavored toddler formula called "Enfagrow Premium," and if you give this to your kid, he'll grow all right... in all the wrong places.

The drink contains 19 grams of sugar -- that's almost five teaspoons, or enough to send him on his way to a life of disease that will be anything but sweet. Give it to your baby with each so-called meal, and that's 15 teaspoons of sugar a day before the child ever has a chance to learn what real food is supposed to taste like.

This is a crime against children... but already parents are praising it.

"My baby won't eat real food," is the typical whine. "He throws his carrots, spits out beef puree and squishes blueberries in his hands."

Yes -- THAT'S WHAT TODDLERS DO!

But today's clueless parents surrender at the slightest sign of resistance and whip out the chocolate-flavored sugar mainline. After all, they say, the child needs to eat "something."

That's child abuse, and it's every bit as damaging as a slap across the face. If you'd never consider smacking your baby, then don't consider chocolate formula, either -- because the sting from this smack will never fade.

Sugar is like crack for little kids, and the only way they ever acquire a taste for it is when YOU give it to them. And once you do, there's no turning back -- your kid is an addict, and thanks to Enfagrow Premium, it can happen before his first birthday.

Congratulations.
