Allen was on his way to a New Year’s Eve party at his family’s home when a Jaguar passed him. The driver had been egging Allen on and would not allow him to pass. In his rage to pass this driver, he did not see a turn up ahead and lost control of his car. We spent a bit of time up at Guadalest in the mountains yesterday afternoon. It's only about 25 minutes drive away from Benidorm into the higher mountains and it is a fabulous small walled enclave which can get cut off in times of bad weather.

The historic hill fort of Guadalest is situated just 25 km inland from the town of Benidorm. It is a major tourist attraction having been declared a 'Monument of Historical and Artistic Value' in 1974. It charms over 2 million visitors every year and is a truly spectacular sight – the remains of a medieval castle and village precariously perched on top of a mountain overlooking a reservoir.  Continue Reading

Most of us who live here take our visitors to see Guadalest. Not only do we enjoy it but there is so much to see in the village that half the fun is seeing our visitors enjoying their visit. There are lots of souvenir items but a lot of them are really good quality.

I've just been reading a health article telling us or reminding those who know of four foods which age us. Wheat based products, Corn based products, Sugar and Soyabean oil are those cited in the report. These are cited as being the main culprits in speeding up the ageing process. This seems to include derivatives of each of these groups.

The papers were a bit insipid and gloomy yesterday. It would seem that the thieving politicians have now turned their attentions to other ways of taking the money from the ordinary man. The easiest way to get lots of money without creating great uproar is not to attack the few who are ultra rich and wish to remain rich. No. The easier way is to take a little of each of the mass in various subtle ways like a little trimming on the benefits here and a little extra subtle taxes there. Clever tactics but reading the comments below the articles on the internet seem to endorse the worries of various clerics who fear social unrest. My guess is that this is what has been happening around the Mediterranean countries.

There are very few teachers in the UK who have been sacked for incompetence. Teaching has never been designed in the UK to detect incompetence. If Ofsted want to find problems they will never find them by cosying up to the management and sending weeks notice in advance of an impending visit. If you want to catch incompetent people you must catch them unawares. The whole system when I was teaching was designed to protect management from any criticism and I doubt if it’s changed that much. It will vary from sector to sector but unions are involved and silly targets have been set to achieve at all costs.  I know. I’t's a generalisation but there are real grains of truth in what i have said. I have been away from teaching for a while now but I only need to watch TV to see how Britain’s youth are developing. In simple terms, if you allow a dog to bite you when it’s young it will come back to bite you harder as it grows stronger……
