It's Anne's birthday today. Anne doesn't read my blog but nevertheless have a Happy Birthday, my dear.................

The bizarre weather patterns continue and cold air has seen temperatures plummet in Britain. Here in Spain we have snow, ice and problems all around the Iberian Peninsula. If there is better weather to be had then we usually get more than our fair share. Let's check that weather.

In the Premiership Man City blew their chances of Champions League football next year. It must be rotten for City fans but Harry Redknapp has guided Spurs to something special. It must seem rough justice to Mark Hughes that Man City sacked him yet have fared no better than 5th or 6th. It is also rather ironic that ex Liverpool striker Peter Crouch scored the vital goal that secured success for Spurs. Benitez-eat your heart out!

Bad Hair Day

Have you ever had one of those days when everything seems to go wrong

If you're trying to find something obvious it isn't where it should belong

Whenever you're in a hurry and you're driving along in your car

The driver in front's got its brakes on and nobody gets very far

If people are coming to visit or tradesmen are having to call

Either nobody bothers to turn up or they arrive in a bunch in the hall

If you have an important call coming in and the mobile's been left by the sink

You rush to answer the ringing and the bloomin things gone on the blink

And just when things seem to be better and you need to go down to the shops

You put the key in the ignition and the car stutters first..... then it stops!

So it's into the house to phone for the garage but first bang your leg and it stings

When you need to get things done in a hurry your other phone's gone but it rings

And so near the end of this nightmare and possibly worst-ever day

The heavens above turn against you and blue skies are turned into grey

You have to go out and it's raining and there´s one thing for sure-you can bet

It's been one of those horrible days my friend and you'll end up decidedly wet!

Vitamin K rides again as a potential cancer fighter.

Just two weeks ago I told you how a high dietary intake of K2 may help reduce the risk of cancer--particularly prostate and lung cancers.

In that study, highest intakes of K2 were also linked to a lower risk of cancer mortality.

In a new study from Mayo Clinic that included about 600 Non-Hodgkin lymphoma patients and 1,000 healthy control subjects, those with the highest dietary intake of vitamin K1 were 45 percent less likely to have the disease.

Many subjects with the highest intake also used supplements that contained vitamin K.

Dark leafy green vegetables, cauliflower, broccoli, olive oil, and avocados are all rich in vitamin K1, which is converted into K2 in the intestine. Dietary K2 is mostly found in liver and egg yolk, and fermented products such as yogurt and cheese.

This study was part of ongoing Mayo research that's examining the link between diet and Non-Hodgkin lymphoma risk.

The lead author told Science Daily, "These findings add to a lot of other data that support a diet that includes plenty of green leafy vegetables in order to prevent many cancers as well as other diseases."

To Your Good Health,

Jenny Thompson
