"This is the oddest and most unpredictable election I've ever been part of"-Kenneth Carke. The electorate is certainly not rushing into the arms of the Tories and we'll probably wake up to a hung parliament for the UK. This probably will show the Tories with the largest number of seats but the real disappointment must be lack of seats projected for the LibDems. This must have been the bwst chance they have ever had to really make their mark. Let`s move to matters in Spain........

Flights to Spain - Try Skyscanner!!

In a previous newsletter I've referred you to some good sites for finding flights to Spain. Now I find the outstanding one to be Skyscanner. You just type in your travel details & they come back with all th best flight deals and links to accommodation, holidays & car rental availability in your selected destination. Another site worth a look is Cheapflights that acts as a flight comparison service.

Car Rental Shortage in Europe

Last summer saw many visitors to Spain, Portugal and the rest of Europe affected by a shortage of rental cars. The recession meant car-hire fleets were allowed to contract, meaning less cars were available for peak periods. Car-hire companies either totally ran out of cars, or the shortage meant that rates increased dramatically. The rates for car hire in Majorca and the other Balearic islands doubled, with prices in mainland Spain up to 70 per cent higher. The recommendation this year is to book early. Take a look at Holidayautos for some of the best current deals.

It is absolutely true that there are some things that the brain cannot handle.*
HOW SMART IS YOUR RIGHT FOOT?

*You have to try this and, **it only takes 2 seconds**. I could not believe
this. Received from an orthopaedic surgeon...This will confuse **your mind,
and I am sure you will keep trying over and over again to see if you can
outsmart your foot, but, you can't. It is pre-programmed in your brain!

1.** **While** **sitting at your desk in front of your computer, lift your right foot off the floor and make clockwise circles.
2. Now, while doing this, draw the number '6' in the air with your right hand. Your foot will change direction.

I told you so! And there's nothing you can do about it! You and I both know how stupid it is, but before the day is done you are going to try it again,
if you've not already done so.

A 23 year old Spanish driver has made a new record. He was clocked by the police doing the fastest ever speed on a Spanish road. His BMW was clocked on the A-5 motorway in Mérida, Badajoz doing 248 kms/hour.

Fortunately there was no accident on the 120 km/hour speed limited road. Also with him in the car was his girlfriend and two children.

Police had to radio ahead to catch him, finally a patrol car intercepting him on the A-66 direction Sevilla.

He now faces two charges, dangerous driving and speeding, but was released by police after testing negative for alcohol and drugs. Full Story

Thanks Jacqui C

A man and his dog were walking along a road. The man was enjoying the scenery, when it suddenly occurred to him that he was dead.
He remembered dying, and that the dog walking beside him had been dead for years. He wondered where the road was leading them.
After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall along one side of the road. It looked like fine marble... At the top of a long hill, it was broken by a tall arch that glowed in the sunlight.
When he was standing before it he saw a magnificent gate in the arch that looked like mother-of-pearl, and the street that led to the gate looked like pure gold. He and the dog walked toward the gate, and as he got closer, he saw a man at a desk to one side.
When he was close enough, he called out, 'Excuse me, where are we?'
'This is Heaven, sir,' the man answered.. 'Wow! Would you happen to have some water?' the man asked.
Of course, sir. Come right in, and I'll have some ice water brought right up. 'The man gestured, and the gate began to open.
'Can my friend,' gesturing toward his dog, 'come in, too?' the traveler asked.
'I'm sorry, sir, but we don't accept pets.'
The man thought a moment and then turned back toward the road and continued the way he had been going with his dog.
After another long walk, and at the top of another long hill, he came to a dirt road leading through a farm gate that looked as if it had never been closed. There was no fence.
As he approached the gate, he saw a man inside, leaning against a tree and reading a book.
'Excuse me!' he called to the man. 'Do you have any water?'
'Yeah, sure, there's a pump over there, come on in.'
'How about my friend here?' the traveler gestured to the dog.
'There should be a bowl by the pump.'
They went through the gate, and sure enough, there was an old-fashioned hand pump with a bowl beside it.
The traveler filled the water bowl and took a long drink himself, then he gave some to the dog.
When they were full, he and the dog walked back toward the man who was standing by the tree.
'What do you call this place?' the traveler asked.
'This is Heaven,' he answered.

'Well, that's confusing,' the traveler said. 'The man down the road said that was Heaven, too.'

'Oh, you mean the place with the gold street and pearly gates? Nope. That's hell.'
'Doesn't it make you mad for them to use your name like that?'
'No, we're just happy that they screen out the folks who would leave their best friends behind.'
