Bread and Water

...There´s a new blog and a new podcast. I hope you find them interesting.
It´s the rugby this weekend and at least Liverpool can´t lose again until Thursday. Will Wales start winning? Will France gather momentum? Will England whack Italy? Will Cardiff knock Chelsea out of their stride? I´m just back from my show in Benidorm and I am looking at the Sky Sports Centre and Vardiff are 1-1 with Chelsea as I write this blog. It has been a grey old morning of Cornish Haar and just the weather for a game of rugby or soccer. Whilst we´re enjoying our TV sport let´s remember this poor young athlete from Georgia who died at the Winter Olympics yesterday. Cardiff are still hanging on at 1-1......... Before I forget...Happy New year to any of my friends from China and a Happy Valentines Day to all the lovers who read my blog I will now knock up a quick poem..........

Romantic Poem

For those who like a little love

But need some guidance from above

Just leave those lips ready and waiting

Like the fires of passion just abating

And if you´re feeling tired and grey

And not quite ready for the day

Just whisper, "Darling although you´re mine

I haven´t got time for Saint Valentine!"

Diet behind mood disorders

No matter what your local shrink tells you, the answer to depression isn't always in your head...and even when it is, he's the last person you should ask for help.

Nope, the real culprit is the slop you stuff down your yaw. And now two new studies confirm what I've been telling you all along: Carbs and processed food lead to depression and other mood problems. (That's if diabetes and heart disease don't get you first.)

A new study published in The British Journal of Psychiatry found that people who ate the most processed foods had the highest risk of depression. It was a clear case of cause-and-effect: The worse the diet, the higher the risk.

Another study in the American Journal of Psychiatry found that women who ate diets heavy in processed foods over a 10-year period were 50 percent more likely to suffer from depressive disorders. The researchers took it a step further and found that women who ate primarily fresh meat and vegetables were 30 percent less likely to suffer from depression.

It's basic nutrition, really. The real recipe for good physical AND mental health is the low-carb lifestyle I've been backing for years.

I won't blame you for thinking this is stunning news -- it certainly knocks the socks off pill-poppers when they realize they've been conned into taking expensive and dangerous zombie meds for no good reason.

But it's not a state secret. If your doc managed to stay awake during medical school he should know all of this already -- he just finds it much easier and far more profitable to send you out the door with a pocketful of happy pills.

And if you want to know what's even worse than those antidepressants, keep reading...

"Pardon Me--But Your Brain is on Fire!"

That's the provocative title of a Healthier Talk article by Dr. Alan Inglis that begins with this question: "Are you overloaded with a toxic fire starter that has been linked to Alzheimer's disease?"

Dr. Inglis: "You'd be hard-pressed to find a doctor who hasn't seen the studies linking, yes, tap water with this disease.

"But while the subject is often talked about behind closed doors, few doctors would ever come right out and say that our most common source of drinking water may be toxic to our brains. Instead, they'll say publicly that we need more studies.

"More studies? What more do you need to know? In fact, one study showed that drinking water that contains a high concentration of aluminum may increase your risk of developing Alzheimer's disease by 250 percent! And we already know that autopsies done on people who had Alzheimer's actually show higher than normal levels of aluminum in their brains.

"These are astonishing findings, and I find them hard to just sweep under the carpet, because aluminum isn't just in your drinking water--it's in antiperspirants, baking powder, and antacids to name a few places. No one can deny that aluminum is prevalent in our water. Source
